WANDERER, 2024
METAL, PLASTIC, PLASTER
STATEMENT:
My goal with [wanderer] was to create my largest sculpture yet, and to place it out-side, and document it over the course of 3 weeks. I wanted to experiment with themes of existentialism, and I was specifically interested in ideas of authenticity. I felt as well that the larger size of this piece would allow it to have more of a presence, and would make it easier to sympathise with and project emotions on.

PROCESS:
I first created a small maquette with wire and clay to test the pose and proportions, and then I scanned the upper body into a 3d modeling program, and printed a large version of it. I then used 2 metal rods as the skeleton for the legs, and after attaching them to the upper body, I coated the entire sculpture in plaster to seal the entire thing together, and make the attachment points invisible.
